Toshiba to build next plant in new spot to reduce risk

Toshiba Corporation has affirmed its confidence in Thailand by earmarking more than 1 billion baht to build a new factory here next year.

Work is 12% complete on a dyke surrounding Bangkadi Industrial Park in Pathum Thani province. However, Toshiba Thailand, a co-owner of the estate and major tenant, plans to build its next factory in a different location to mitigate its flood risk.

But the plant will be in a different location to reduce business risk, as the existing one in Pathum Thani's Bangkadi Industrial Park was severely flooded last year.

In other words there is little confidence in the Thai government and its water management plans to date. If I were an invester I'd be hot on the Toshiba tail.
